PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a contact resistance between magnet pieces of a magnet body for a field pole consisting of a plurality of magnet pieces. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a magnet body for a field pole arranged in a rotor or a stator of a permanent magnet type electric motor includes: a step of splitting the magnet body into a plurality of magnet pieces 31 by breaking the magnet body; a step of peeling the surface layer portion of the broken surface 33 of the magnet pieces 31 split in the splitting step; and a step of integrally coupling the plurality of magnet pieces 31 from which the surface layer portion is peeled in the peeling step.
