PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hood for an endoscope, assisting insertion of an endoscope without damaging a body cavity wall. SOLUTION: This hood 1 for an endoscope includes: a cylindrical mounting part 2 removably mounted to the outer peripheral surface of the tip of an endoscope E inserted in a body cavity; a projecting part 3 extending forward from the tip of the mounting part 2, and formed of a curved surface tapered and bulged outward; and an opening part 4 opened at the tip of the projecting part 3. The projecting part 3 is projected with a length L ranging from 20-60% to the outside diameter D of the mounting part 2, and when the outer peripheral surface of the projecting part 3 abuts on the body cavity wall Wb, the opening part 4 is positioned away from the body cavity wall Wb. The hood 1 for an endoscope includes a groove part 12 recessed along the axial direction in the outer peripheral surface of the projecting part 3, to which a water supply tube 13 is mounted. The water supply tube 13 is reduced in diameter as it goes from the base end toward the forward end, or the tip thereof is provided with an opening 13a inclined at a predetermined angle to the axis.
