<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wireless LAN system which is capable of avoiding confusion and collisions between terminal users about handling a command issued from a terminal and also preventing a terminal user from mistaking it for system failure. <P>SOLUTION: A base unit 10, when receiving a command from any terminal, discriminates whether or not the command is a contention command and the priority of the terminal which issued the command, and when the command is not a contention command, the command is accepted, when the command is a contention command and the priority of the terminal which issued the command is higher than that of the other terminal under reception, the command is accepted and that is informed to the other terminal under reception.
