<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for more rapidly executing image capturing including local pixel addition depending on the luminance of a subject. <P>SOLUTION: The image pickup device includes a first image pickup element, a second image pickup element and a control section. The first image pickup element has a plurality of two-dimensionally arranged pixels each for picking up a subject and outputting signals of the pickup images. The first image pickup element can add a signal value of a pixel group included in a partial region designated out of the pixel arrangement and output the signal. The second image pickup element acquires luminance distribution information indicating the correspondence relation between the image pickup range of the picked-up image and the luminance of the subject. The control section uses the luminance distribution information to designate the position of a partial region where pixel addition is executed in the pixel arrangement of the first image pickup element. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
