<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that suppresses variation in image density and deterioration in gradation property even when the film thickness of an image carrier is varied. <P>SOLUTION: A representative structure of the image forming apparatus includes: a photoreceptor drum 1; a developing unit 4 which includes a sleeve 20 for holding the developer and develops an electrostatic latent image formed on the photoreceptor drum 1 with the developer; a bias application unit 19 for applying developing bias to a sleeve 20; a film thickness detection circuit 31 for detecting the information regarding the film thickness of the photoreceptor drum 1; and a control circuit 33 for controlling AC bias in the developing bias that is applied to the sleeve 20 so that the developed toner concentration is made lowered along with decreasing of the film thickness of the photoreceptor drum 1 according to the detection results by the film thickness detection circuit 31. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
