PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vegetable-origin coating agent which is an eco-friendly vegetable-origin coating agent, does not require any expensive raw materials, and is excellent also in hydrolysis resistance, and to provide an object coated therewith. SOLUTION: The vegetable-origin coating agent contains, as a film-forming component, a lactic acid-based polymer (A) containing polyfunctional compound having hydroxyl groups and/or carboxyl groups and a functionality of 3 or higher and lactic acid as essential monomers and having a specific SP value and a resin (B) containing hydroxyl groups and/or carboxyl groups and having a specific SP value, wherein the SP value difference (ΔSP) between the lactic acid-based polymer (A) and the resin (B) is in the range of 0.2-4.0.
