PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin composition which retains desirable transparency, heat resistance, and mechanical properties inherent in a cyclic olefin resin, and also exhibits excellent flame retardancy when molded. SOLUTION: The resin composition includes: 75-99 pts.wt. of cyclic olefin resin (A); and 1-25 pts.wt. of a compound (B) containing a phosphorus atom and a nitrogen atom and expressed by formula (1) (wherein R<SP>1</SP>is independently a 1-10C hydrocarbon group which may have a substituent, a 3-10C alicyclic hydrocarbon group which may have a substituent or a 6-20C aromatic hydrocarbon group which may have a substituent).
