<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection image display apparatus in which each unit is housed in a housing case in a condition where the depth and height of the housing case are limited. <P>SOLUTION: The projection image display apparatus 100 includes the housing case 200 housing a light source unit 110 comprising a plurality of solid light sources 111, a DMD 500 configured to modulate light emitted from the plurality of solid light sources 111, a projection unit 150 configured to project the light emitted from the DMD 500 on a projection plane, and a cooling unit 130 configured to cool the plurality of solid light sources 111. A size of the housing case 200 in a depth direction is smaller than a size of the housing case 200 in a width direction. The projection unit 150 is arranged at substantially center of the housing case 200 in the width direction of the housing case 200.
