PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which forms a high definition pattern continuously on the surface of a plate-like base material such as glass base or plastic base, or a flexible base material such as a lengthy plastic film. SOLUTION: This printer comprises at least, the following constituent means: a means to apply an ink liquid to the surface of an ink-releasable film base, a means to obtain a dried ink film by drying the ink liquid, a means to transfer a non-image part to the projecting part of a letterpress printing plate by pressing the letterpress printing plate with an image part pattern as a recessed part to the dried ink film and then, removing the letterpress printing plate, a means to transfer an image pattern consisting of the dried ink film remaining on the ink-releasable film base, to the surface of a base material for the pattern to be printed, a cleaning means to clean and remove the remaining ink film on the releasable film base, and a means to clean the surface of the base material for the pattern to be printed.
