PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress, in a projection type display device using a plurality of light sources, an illuminance decrease resulting from a situation in which foreign matters such as dust accumulated on the incident face of a taper rod integrator is heated and fixed by light. SOLUTION: The projection type display device includes: the plurality of light sources: a display device: a light combining section for combining light output from the plurality of light sources; a light-condensing and color-processing section by which light output from the light combining section is transmitted to the display device and this light is subjected to a color processing; and a projecting section for projecting an image by use of light output from the display device. In the projection type display device, the light combining section has a rod integrator 14 the incident face 24 of which is exposed. Further, the projection type display device includes a blower 51 for preventing or suppressing adhesion of the foreign matter to the incident face 24. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
