The track has an equalizing layer provided between horizontal even support surfaces of a sleeper (2) and a bearing surface of a ballast bed (4) formed by broken stones. The layer is structured in a surface that is turned toward the bed, so that the stones are totally or partially taken up, where the layer is not plastically and elastically deformable when loaded by rail vehicles. The layer is made of bitumen cement mortar, and consists of a mortar mixture for producing lightweight concrete, where the mixture has an additive in form of plastic, straw and bamboo or steel fibers. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a ballast track with transverse sleepers.
