PURPOSE: A downlink reference signal transmission method and an apparatus are provided to improve the channel estimation performance by transmitting the exclusive reference signal exclusively from various control channels in a wireless communication system. CONSTITUTION: The data for layer below eight is transmitted through data area of the down link subframe(100). The reference signal for layer below eight is transmitted on the predetermined OFDM symbol of the down link subframe. The reference signal corresponds to the exclusive reference signal for demodulating the data below eight.
