<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove an underline, even when tables are included in a business document, and/or the underline is in contact with a character string. <P>SOLUTION: An underline removing device removes an underline area from a binary image data, having the underline area contacting to the character string and includes: an underline search processing part performing line template matching processing to extract polylines, representing the coordinate of the underline, with the provision of a rectangular-shaped line template, having one point on the binary image data as a start point and by tracing pixels included in the line template; and an underline removing processing part performing processing to obtain background boundary coordinates between the underline area and a background area, based on the polylines, and to obtain character boundary coordinates between the underline area and the character string, obtained through interpolation processing on a part of the underline area contacting to the character string, and processing to replace an area enclosed by the background boundary coordinates and the character boundary coordinates with the pixel color of the background area. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
