<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording material surface detecting device for accurately determining a recording material without being affected by the fiber aligning direction of the recording material, and an image forming apparatus having the recording material surface detecting device. <P>SOLUTION: The recording material surface detecting device 40 for detecting the surface state of the recording material P includes an LED 42 for irradiation for radiating light, CMOS area sensors 43A and 43B for imaging a light irradiating region as a surface image, and a driving arithmetic section 40C for detecting the information related to an uneven state of the surface of the recording material P. The CMOS area sensors 43A and 43B image a first light irradiating region and a second light irradiating region, respectively. In the state where the LED 42 for irradiation radiates light to the recording material P, the straight line obtained by projecting, on the recording material P, the straight line for connecting the LED 42 for irradiation to the first light irradiating region crosses the straight line obtained by projecting, on the recording material P, the straight line for connecting the LED 42 for irradiation to the second light irradiating region. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
