PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a copper alloy material for electrical and electronic components, which has its elongation and distortion formed after having been rolled sufficiently restored and eliminated, respectively, and also has adequate platability, and to provide a method for manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: The copper alloy material for the electrical and electronic components is manufactured by rolling a copper-based alloy which uses copper (Cu) as its base metal and includes 1.0-4.0 mass% nickel (Ni) and also 0.2-1.2 mass% silicon (Si), or further less than 2.0 mass% in total of one or more elements out of phosphorus (P), zinc (Zn), tin (Sn), magnesium (Mg), iron (Fe), cobalt (Co), manganese (Mn), zirconium (Zr), titanium (Ti), chromium (Cr) and silver (Ag) as subsidiary components, in the base metal. In the surface layer region within a depth of 10 nm from the surface of at least one side of the copper alloy material for the electrical and electronic components, an oxide of an element which has lower free energy of oxide formation than copper (Cu) is made not to exist.
