The method involves regulating atmospheric pressures within corresponding system components (1.1, 1.2) e.g. workshop and cleaning room, such that a pressure difference between the atmospheric pressures adopts a value within a preset value range. An input signal is generated from the pressure difference that is measured by a pressure measuring unit (2.1). A control signal is determined from the input signal and a preset target value by a regulating unit. A control unit for regulating the atmospheric pressure within one of the system components is controlled by the control signal. An independent claim is also included for a device for adjusting atmospheric pressure within a system for painting a component.
