<p>A radar sensor (12) detects the running state of a driver's car. A distance control ECU (20) applies a manipulated variable to a predetermined controlled variable of the car so that the car running state detected by the radar sensor (12) may be a predetermined state. When the manipulated variable applied by the distance control ECU (20) is at or higher a predetermined value, the manipulated variable to be applied by the distance control ECU (20) is reduced as a kind of penalty. A drive assisting device thus provided can prevent the driver from depending thereupon.</p> |
