PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine the presence or absence of an abnormal operation of a movable member while taking the advantage that the movable member can be operated from one end to the other end in a set operating range without installing a sensor. SOLUTION: A device for driving the movable member includes the movable member for adjusting aerodynamic characteristics of a vehicle while undergoing an attitude change thereof; an electric motor for operating the movable member; an prevention means for preventing an operation exceeding the set operating range of the movable member by contact with the movable member; a control means for operating the movable member from one end to the other end in the set operating range by passing a current to the electric motor for a predetermined time; and an abnormality determination means which measures time from the start of passing the current to the electric motor to the detection of a lock current generated in the electric motor by the inhibition of the operation of the movable member, and which executes abnormality determination processing for determining the presence or absence of an abnormal operation of the movable member based on whether the measured time departs from a reference time range.
