An apparatus comprises a valve (1) for obtaining a partial stream of the medium, where the valve is enclosed in a hermetically connected measuring chamber having specific volume. Two or multiple electrodes, preferably made of gold (2) and platinum (3) are charged in a potentiometric manner with redox potential, and are intermittently charged with a time dependent voltage by two other electrodes (4,5), where a current flow is recorded. The determination is accomplished by using mass of redox species from peak current and partial flow (9) via another valve and pump (10).
