ANTI-ALLERGIC AGENT AND ANTI-INFLAMMATORY AGENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new anti-allergic agent and a new anti-inflammatory agent that are highly safe, can be readily produced and can be compounded with pharmaceutical products, functional food, cosmetics, bathing products and quasi drugs.

SOLUTION: The anti-allergic agent, the anti-inflammatory agent, a basophil degranulation inhibitor, a mast cell degranulation inhibitor and a β-hexosaminidase release inhibitor each comprises, as an active ingredient, 5-hydroxymethyl furfural that has inhibitory actions against β-hexosaminidase release, basophil degranulation and mast cell degranulation as well as anti-allergic and anti-inflammatory actions.
