<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device with high display quality, which can perform transmission display using light emitted from a backlight and reflection display using ambient light without dividing each pixel area into a transmission display area and a reflection display area. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device includes: a liquid crystal display panel 1 having color filters 7 for a plurality of color components; and a side-lighting backlight unit 15 emitting light to the liquid crystal panel 1. The backlight unit 15 includes a reflective plate 19 which is placed so as to interpose a light guide plate 16 between the liquid crystal panel 1 and reflects light passed through the liquid crystal panel 1 and the light guide plate 16 in this order. The color filters 7 are configured so that spectral characteristics of a combined light of light beams which has passed and returned through the color filters 7 corresponding to respective color components correct light volume difference of the transmitted light between predetermined wavelength regions generated by passing and returning of the light through the light guide plate 16 when the light is radiated to the reflection plate 19 through the light guide plate 16. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
