PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sanitary article used by women to absorb menstrual fluid and the like. SOLUTION: The sanitary article includes a plug 2 and a pad 3 connected by a sheath 4. The plug 2 has a substantially cylindrical form and is comfortably fits in a vagina cavity. The pad 3 remains outside the vagina cavity, while including an absorbing layer on an inner side surface 9 near the plug 2 and a liquid-impermeable layer on an outer side surface 10. The sheath 4 includes a tube made of an absorbent material for drawing the excessive menstrual fluid from the plug 2 to the pad 3 and has a layer of a liquid-impermeable material on an inner surface thereof. The tube extends from an outer end part 6 of the plug 2 near the pad 3 to the pad 3 and passes through the pad 3. When a user uses the sanitary article, the user can insert a finger into the sheath from an outer side surface of the pad 3 to assist an insertion of the plug 2 into the vagina cavity. The sheath has a small diameter sufficiently for avoiding significant pressure applied on the vagina opening when the sanitary article is attached and the user detaches the finger.
