Producing rod-shaped strontium carbonate powder particles, comprises heating an aqueous slurry comprising needle-shaped strontium carbonate powder particles at a temperature higher than 50[deg] C. An independent claim is also included for producing a granular strontium carbonate powder particle comprising producing the rod-shaped strontium carbonate powder particles by the above mentioned method and crushing the produced rod-shaped strontium carbonate powder particles.
