A moving object detection device which can be manufactured without the use of an expensive laser welding device or a large-sized laser welding device, which is produced by a simplified manufacturing process, and which can be manufactured with reduced cost. A moving object detection device (1) comprising a housing (3) which is provided with a containment section (2) and also comprising a cover (4) which covers the containment section (2), the moving object detection device (1) having disposed in the containment section (2) a detection means (5) which detects the movement of an object to be detected. The housing (3) consists of a light absorptive resin which absorbs laser light. The cover (4) consists of a light transmissive resin which allows the laser light to pass therethough, and the cover (4) is provided with a top plate section (4a) which covers the containment section (2). The housing (3) is provided with a contact section (8) which is located around the containment section (2) and is in contact with the top plate section (4a) of the cover (4), and the cover (4) and the contact section (8) are laser-welded together.
