METHOD FOR ERROR PROTECTION OF JPEG2000 IMAGES

PURPOSE: A JPEG2000 image error protection method is provided to minimize the damage of the code stream for the transmission error by using the RS code having the advantage over the burst error. CONSTITUTION: An image compressed in JPEG2000 standard is segmented in a main header part, a tile-part header part, and a packet data part. The sensitivity of the error for the segmented part is calculated. The redundancy bit is generated by applying different RS code according to the sensitivity. The code stream is generated.
