<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an integrator, having a light-incident-side lens group, a light-emitting-side lens group and a case connecting these lens groups, wherein the integrator has a structure in which diffused light from a boundary plane of a lens constituting the light-incident-side lens group does not leak outside of the case and further does not cause temperature rise of the case, etc. <P>SOLUTION: A cooling medium such as air is introduced to an internal space surrounded by the light-incident-side lens group, the light-emitting-side lens group and a cylindrical case connecting them.
