PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an edge of a printed object from entering a gap between a back-up roller and a guide plate even the transferred object is soft. SOLUTION: A printer is equipped with the guide plate 39b provided downstream of the back-up roller 29 of a transferring means for guiding booklets 31 or a single sheet 32 conveyed to a transferring position 6a along the conveyance direction, a rising/descending mechanism 41 for moving the back-up roller 29 between the transcription position 6a and a retreating position 6c retreating downward from the transferring position 6a, and a control part 50 for controlling the rising/descending mechanism 41 to raise the back-up roller 29 to a conveyance assisting position 6b higher than the retreating position 6c and lower than the transferring position 6a based on a conveyance direction edge part of the single sheet 32 reaching a vertex of the back-up roller 29.
