PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wire for gas shielded arc welding of a line pipe required to be welded in all positions from the flat position to the overhead position through the vertical position having the strength of about≥20% of the lower limit of the standard tensile strength of a line pipe body (base material), and capable of realizing the performance of a weld metal having the Vickers hardness of≤300. SOLUTION: The wire for gas shielded arc welding of a line pipe has a composition consisting of, by mass, 0.07-0.12% C, 0.50-0.80% Si, 1.50-2.20% Mn,≤0.020% P,≤0.020% S, 0.40-0.70% Mo, 0.01-0.03% Ti, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities.
