PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inhibit reduction of exhaust temperature in an internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: The internal combustion engine includes exhaust ports 4a, 4b, 4c, 4d formed in a cylinder head 3 and extending respectively from a plurality of cylinders 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d, and connection surfaces 8a, 8b for connecting an exhaust manifold 10 at a part which is in a side face of the cylinder head 3 and in which the exhaust ports are opened, and at least parts of the connection surfaces 8a, 8b are formed to dent toward the inside of the cylinder head as viewed from above the cylinder head in a cylinder center axis direction. The surface areas of inner walls of the exhaust ports 4a, 4b, 4c, 4d are reduced without substantially increasing the surface area of an inner wall of the exhaust manifold 10.
