PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a floating roof type storing tank which can prevent completely the storing water in the tank from bringing into contact with the outside air, prevents sealing performance from being deteriorated caused by deterioration with time of a sealing material, and is easy to perform installation and maintenance of a floating roof. SOLUTION: The floating roof type storing tank comprising a tank body 2, a floating roof which floats on the surface of the storing liquid in the tank body 2 and can slide along the inner face of the side plate 3 of the tank body 2, and a sealing structure for sealing the side plate 3 of the tank body 2 and the floating roof, has such a constitution that the floating roof 5 is formed with a clearance from the side plate 3 of the tank body 2, a pump 8 for sealing water for elevating a pressure of the storing water 7 is provided on the upper face of the floating roof 5, and on the outer edge of the floating roof 5, an outer peripheral body 6 for sealing having a plurality of discharging openings 19 for discharging the storing water 7 sucked up by the pump 8 for the sealing water toward the tank side plate 3 is provided, to seal the clearance between the side plate 3 of the tank body 2 and the floating roof 5 with the storing water 7 discharged from the outer peripheral body 6 for sealing.
