PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing device that makes a double-sided printing at such a productivity that the number of output sheets per unit time is a half of that during single-sided printing, while silencing operating noise. SOLUTION: This device includes: printing means carrying out an image formation at a sheet interval Lgand an on-printing carrying speed Vgfor a sheet with a sheet width Lp; constant speed carrying means carrying the sheet at the on-printing carrying speed Vgfrom a registration part via the printing means to a speed change position; variable speed carrying means carrying the sheet from the speed change position to the registration part; and carriage control means controlling a sheet carrying speed. A sheet carrying section includes: an acceleration/deceleration section for reversing the sheet in a sheet reversing passage; a constant speed section carrying at a carrying speed Vr; and a section carrying at a low carrying speed Vs. The carrying speed Vris calculated using the acceleration, sheet width Lp, sheet interval Lg, on-printing carrying speed Vg, and low carrying speed Vsso that the sheet is circulatively carried in N×(Lp+Lg)/Vg, by setting a circulation number of sheets N.
