Disclosed is a flame-retardant expandable styrene resin composition which contains a styrene resin, a bromine-containing flame retardant, and a foaming agent. As the bromine-containing flame retardant, a mixture of (a) a bromine-containing organic compound having a 2,3-dibromopropyl group or a bromine-containing organic compound having a bromine content of not less than 60% by weight with all the bromine atoms being bonded to a benzene ring, and (b) a bromine-containing organic compound having a 2,3-dibromo-2-alkylpropyl group is blended in an amount of 0.5-10 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the styrene resin. The expandable styrene resin composition can be recycled, and has high flame retardancy and thermal stability with a small addition of the bromine-containing flame retardant. |
