The method involves conveying washing liquid by a pump (18), and detecting an environment parameter by a detection mechanism (22). An amount of the washing liquid applied on a pane i.e. windscreen (16), is adjusted depending on the environment parameter, where the environment parameter is speed of a vehicle, temperature of an interior part of the vehicle or a degree of pollution of the windscreen. The washing liquid is applied on the windscreen depending on wiping direction of a wiper arm. An independent claim is also included for a device for applying washing liquid on a pane of a vehicle.
