<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color electrophotographic image forming apparatus, wherein the exchanging operation for a cartridge which contains developer and for a residual developer container 40 which contains residual developer is improved. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming unit 200, in which the cartridge is mounted, is provided with the residual developer container 40 which contains the residual developer collected from a photosensitive drum.
