PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photocurable and/or heat-curable compound which can provide an excellent cured film that is excellent in storage stability and sufficient satisfies properties such as development, hardness, heat resistance, chemical resistance, electric insulation, and flexibility, and to provide a cured product thereof. SOLUTION: The photocurable and/or heat-curable compound is a carboxy group-containing compound having an acid value of 30-200 mgKOH/g, which is obtained by: reacting the epoxy group of a resin (a) having two or more epoxy groups in the molecule with a monocarboxylic acid (b) at a rate of 0.3-0.9 mol based on 1 equivalent of the epoxy group to give a reaction product (c); reacting the epoxy group of the reaction product (c) with a polybasic acid anhydride (e) at a rate of 0.2-5.0 mol in the presence of 0.1-5.0 mol of water (d) based on 1 equivalent of the epoxy group to give a reaction product (f); and reacting the epoxy group of the reaction product (f) with a monocarboxylic acid (g) at a rate of 0.0-5.0 mol based on 1 equivalent of the epoxy group.
