PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a load at an image processor side in order to guarantee stable operation as an image communication system even during multi-line simultaneous communication or copy/printer competitive operation, in the image communication system where the image processor and an opposite party facsimile machine are connected via a communication controller. SOLUTION: The image communication system includes a means for confirming the response of the opposite party facsimile machine in the case of transmission, and starting, within the image processor, image processing for transmission excluding "variable power capability" based on a facsimile negotiation result and "transmission header creation" that is transmission-side additional information.
