OPTICAL TRANSMITTER, OPTICAL TRANSMITTER-RECEIVER, DRIVE CURRENT CONTROL METHOD, AND METHOD FOR MEASURING TEMPERATURE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmitter-receiver capable of detecting a temperature in the vicinity of an LD even under limitation of the number of pins of a package. SOLUTION: This optical transmission/reception module 1 includes: a TOSA wherein the LD 18 which emits an optical signal and a PD 12 which receives monitoring light of the optical signal are mounted on a coaxial type package 10; a control circuit 4 arranged outside of the coaxial type package 10 which controls an optical output of the LD 18; and a constant current source 5 arranged outside of the coaxial type package 10. The control circuit 4 supplies the constant current generated by the constant current source 5 to the PD 12 and further detects voltage drop in the PD 12, and then, based on the temperature in the package obtained based on the voltage drop, controls a drive current to be supplied to the LD 18.
