PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for easily retrieving a desired image by combining a plurality of query images. SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus displays an area A1 wherein a designation image S can be disposed on a display screen, receives designation of a logical expression according to a gravity center position and reversal designation s2 of the designation image S disposed in the area A1, vicinity range designation s1, and direction of an importance attachment button s3, and specifies a retrieval area in a characteristic amount space based on the logical expression and a characteristic amount of the designation image S.
