PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus having enhanced separability of a recording material which has passed through a secondary transfer part, and also, having high conveying performance. SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus, a toner image formed on an image carrier is carried by an intermediate transfer belt, and a transfer member presses a recording material on a surface, in which the toner image is carried, and thereby applies a secondary transfer voltage. The image forming apparatus includes: a first countering roller, which presses the transfer member to come into contact with the transfer member from the opposite side to the surface, in which the toner image of the intermediate transfer belt is carried; and a second countering roller, which is disposed on the downstream-side of the first countering roller relating to the rotating direction of the intermediate transfer belt to form a separation part in which the recording material is separated.
