PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire, especially a pneumatic tire appropriate for an automobile, capable of improving a fuel efficiency performance by reducing the weight of the tire more than before without impairing various performances of the tire, such as durability. SOLUTION: In the pneumatic tire, a carcass 4 extending in a toroid shape from a tread part 1 to both bead parts 3 through both side parts 2 is a skeleton, and the belt 5 made of at least two belt layers is provided outside in a tire radial direction in a crown area of the carcass 4. In at least one belt layer, a metal mono filament arranged without crossing is a reinforcement element, and the gauge of the side part 2 at a tire maximum width part is less than 5.2 mm.
