PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a user-friendly vacuum cleaner by making a high-frequency current value be inside a specification limit. SOLUTION: The vacuum cleaner includes a cleaner body having a built-in electric blower 2 for producing a suction current, a drive means 8 for driving the blower 2, a control means 9 for controlling a power supply to the drive means 8, a dust sensing means 4 for detecting dust sucked and a communication means 10 for communicating information to a user when means 4 detects the dust. When the means 4 does not detect the dust, the power supply to the drive means 8 is made to be less and a phase of power to be supplied is changed at an interval of a specified period. When the means 4 detects the dust, the power supply to the drive means 8 is made to be much and a phase of power to be supplied is constantly kept. The high-frequency current is reduced even when the power supply is less on an occasion of no detection of the dust, thereby allowing the specification limit to be satisfied.
