The recess has a circulating frame region (18) and with an opening (30) for base region (28) that exhibits a tank filler (24). The frame region and the base region are formed by a separate component assembled for forming the recess. The base region is lockably formed with the frame region. The base region has a sub-area that is formed of material which is softer than the material of another sub-area. A sealing element is provided between the frame region and a body component for separating wet regions from dry regions. The frame region and/or the base region are made of plastic. An independent claim is also included for a method for arranging a tank recess at a body of a motor vehicle.
