<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To band fuel cells together without sacrificing a sealing function between a cooling flow channel and an external. <P>SOLUTION: A fuel cell 10 includes a plurality of multi-cell modules 20. The multi-cell module includes a plurality of stacked single cells 100, module plates 200, 205 disposed on both sides of a stack of the single cells, and a grouping band 300 for banding the single cells and the module plates together. The module plates each have mutually-parallel fitting grooves 202, 207 formed on second surfaces 201, 206 on a side opposite to first surfaces 203, 208 on the single cells' side.
