<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a honeycomb structure, in which a large sized honeycomb structure can be manufactured with a high dimensional accuracy by preparing a kneaded clay having excellent moldability and shape retaining property. <P>SOLUTION: In a step of preparing the kneaded clay using a ceramic raw material wherein the ratio of particles having diameter of ≤1 μm in the particle size distribution is ≥20% by volume and the ratio of the particles having diameter of ≥10 μm is ≥30% by volume, the kneaded clay wherein extruding stress during extrusion in a state where a rheometer hardness is adjusted to 2.0 kgf becomes ≤25 MPa, is prepared. As the ceramic raw materials, kaolin particles having average particle diameter of ≤1 μm and BET specific surface area of ≥17 m<SP>2</SP>/g, kaoline particles having average particle diameter of ≥5 μm and BET specific surface area of ≤7 m<SP>2</SP>/g and talc particles having average particle diameter of ≥25 μm and BET specific surface area of ≤2 m<SP>2</SP>/g are used at least. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
