PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a broadcast signal receiver which can appropriately correct deviation of a video which may occur by scaling.

SOLUTION: The broadcast signal receiver receives high definition video data and low resolution video data as a broadcast signal. A first characteristic part detection means detects a first characteristic part which exists in a first video, A second characteristic part detection means detects a second characteristic part which exists in a position corresponding to the position in which the first characteristic part exists in a second video subjected to scaling according to a size of the first video, and has the same characteristic of the first characteristic part. A scaling detection means detects a scaling rate for adjusting a size of video formed from the low resolution video data by comparing the position of the first characteristic part and the position of the second characteristic part. Because of this, it is possible to appropriately suppress deviation of the video which may occur when performing scaling of the video formed from the low resolution video data.
