PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cap device for an objective lens (projection lens), the cap device protecting an objective lens (projection lens) of video equipment such as a projector which is easily handled without being lost and without becoming a hindrance when performing setting operation; and to provide the projector. SOLUTION: The cap device for the objective lens includes a cap body 31 which covers a little less than the lower half of the objective lens (projection lens 2) of the video equipment; and a cap shutter 32 which covers a little more than the upper half of the objective lens (projection lens 2) by a rotary slide system.
