PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device of an engine capable of further improving engine control performed based on a second target rotating speed at the low rotation range side from a preset first target rotating speed for improving the fuel economy of the engine, and preventing the extremely small shortage of a flow discharged from a hydraulic pump in an extremely small amount of time in transition from a standby state that work is not performed to a non-standby state that the work is performed. SOLUTION: In the standby state, the lowering of the second target rotating speed N2 is decreased to perform the engine control based on a third target rotating speed N3, and when the engine control is performed based on the third target rotating speed N3 to be brought into the non-standby state from the standby state, the engine control based on the third target rotating speed N3 is transited to the engine control based on the second target rotating speed N2.
