PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal printer in which the sticking to a platen roller of a lubricant or the like contained in a thermosensitive paper is reduced and the deterioration of conveyance ability of the thermosensitive paper is suppressed. SOLUTION: The thermal printer performs the printing for the thermosensitive paper containing an aliphatic compound. The thermal printer is provided with: a thermal head for supplying heat to the thermosensitive paper; and the platen roller which holds the thermosensitive paper between the thermal head and the platen roller and conveys the thermosensitive paper, wherein the platen roller is provided with a platen rubber which prevents the sticking of the aliphatic compound in the thermosensitive paper and the platen rubber includes a phenyl group-containing silicone rubber.
