PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and an image forming method capable of suppressing image quality deterioration due to deviation in the ink jetting direction from a nozzle to the inside of a nozzle array in the end of the recording head, without using a mask pattern such as a gradation mask. SOLUTION: When an attention is paid to an area 903, in a printing step (1), a shaded portion (a) is a portion where the printing duty is controlled to be low by density correction. In a printing step (2), a shaded portion (b) is a portion where the printing duty becomes higher by the amount of the density correction of the portion (a) by feedback of detection density. In a printing step (3), a shaded portion (c) is a portion where the printing duty is controlled to be high by the density correction so that the printing duty becomes lower at the following path, that is, at the fourth path. In a printing step (4), a shaded portion (d) is a portion where the printing duty becomes lower by the amount of density correction of the portion (c) by the feedback of detection density.
