PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner which can suck drifting dust in the air. SOLUTION: The vacuum cleaner includes: an extension pipe 6 connecting a tip pipe 16 having an operating part 15 with a suction means 7; a communication hole 202 formed in the part of the extension pipe 6 which is near to the tip pipe 16; a drifting dust suction electric blower 41 formed on the extension pipe 6 so as to communicate with the communication hole 202 and feeding outside air to the communication hole 202; an outside air opening and closing lid 31 to open and close the communication hole 202; a passageway opening and closing lid 32 provided on the upstream side of the communication hole 202 in the extension pipe 6; a hose 5 connecting the tip pipe 16 and a cleaner body 2; a dust chamber 4 provided in the cleaner body 2; a floor surface dust suction electric blower 60 provided in the cleaner body 2; and a control board 10 controlling the outside air opening and closing lid 31, the drifting dust suction electric blower 41 and the floor surface dust suction electric blower 60 in accordance with input from the operating part 15.
